Stoney Creek Iris
group-2.jpgWhat a big year we have ahead of us at Stoney Creek Iris!  I'll be a vendor at the PA. Garden Expo (link below) in late February.  The logistics are daunting and the registration fee even more so, but it's time to take a big step like this. Please come visit if you're at the show!

Internet orders won't be accepted until midnight April 1, 2012.  This gives me enough time to do a thorough spring inventory and make sure i"m not listing anything that isn't in top shape.   Last year we had nine orders in the first five minutes!

Last summer, I hired a gentleman who is an artist with a backhoe, and Cutter cleared 1.5 acres for me that had been used for Christmas trees.  I had a cover  crop of buckwheat in that soil within 24 hours, and by early fall it was planted full of iris.  That's a big expansion for us, and I can't wait until the spring bloom.

If you're making your wish list, do so knowing that the current listing is not final.  I hope to add more and may need to drop a few once I do that spring inventory. The list will be accurate by March 15.

I'll still pay your postage for orders over $20.  There's a $5 charge for postage for orders under $20.

I moved nearly every iris last year, as the ones in the lower fields were compromised by the record rainfalls and flooding.  Up until then, I'd thought there was pretty good drainage in those fields, but I learned that I was wrong.  So......they've moved.  If you visit this year, you'll be rewarded with an extraordinary view of the mountains once you get up to the top of the hill. Open Gardens will be the last few weekends in May, maybe one in early June, depending on the weather.  Please check this site for more details closer to that time.

Our iris are healthy and organically grown. I'm occasionally asked why it matters to grow organic when it's not a food product.......it matters because organic growing isn't just about food, it's about stewardship of the earth. It's a little more challenging in some ways, but, um, I want to drink my well water, and I want my soil to be a vibrant, viable source for life.  (Okay, off my soapbox.)

Stoney Creek Iris is not a huge business, it's a small family run operation, and we are grateful for the continued support of our wonderful customers, so many of whom have become good friends.  If you place an order, I will do the best I can to take good care of you.
